STAR TREK
OMNIBUS VOLUME 1
In 1979, Star Trek The Motion Picture ignited on the movie screens. That same year, Marvel began printing its first Star Trek comic. The series started with a 3-part adaptation of the movie then went on to run for a total of 18 issues.
I think this comic is spot on. The writing is brilliant. The stories are exactly the type of stories that you'd expect to get if Paramount had made a new TV series after The Motion Picture hit screens instead of making more films. I love every page of this omnibus.
It's over 300 pages. It doesn't reprint Marvel's The Motion Picture adaptation (that's in the movies omnibus), but instead it includes issues 4-18.
The stories pick up right after the events of Star Trek The Motion Picture. If you remember, that film ends with Kirk taking the Enterprise on its shakedown cruise. Where this book starts is with Kirk, at Starfleet HQ in San Francisco, speaking with an Admiral after that shakedown cruise. Kirk retains command of the Enterprise and is given a mission.
NOTE: Besides being nostalgic, this is some of the best Trek you'll ever read. I've added several pics from the 300+ pages collected in this book. Read some of those comic pages and see if you agree with me that the stories are very Trek. These are stories that will take you on a journey to explore the human condition--what Star Trek does best. This is excellent science fiction.
CONDITION: Beautiful book. Straight spine. Clean pages. Thick, glossy paper. No tears, marks or highlights.
THE HUMAN ADVENTURE IS JUST BEGINNING.
