DESCRIPTION

Reprint. First published in 1865. 

Illustrated with ten tinted plates, including a frontispiece. Collated complete. 

This work was written by British botanist and writer Louisa Lane Clarke who was best known for her work on microscopic plants. This work provides a description of various British seaweeds, with additional details on their microscopic spore bearing structure. 

In the publisher's original paper boards. 

Undated. Dated by copies held at the Haiti Trust Library.

CONDITION

In the publisher's original paper boards. Externally generally smart with fading to the spine, slight marks to the boards, bumping to the head and tail of the spine, small closed tears to the head of the spine, spotting to the rear board and rubbing to the paper to the head and tail of the spine and to the joints. Light offsetting to the free endpapers with a bookseller's label to the front pastedown. Internally firmly bound with generally bright pages and the odd spot to the extremities only. A closed tear to the head of the frontispiece professionally repaired with binder's tape.
