Excellent lens for a graduation cereomony where the candidate is on the stage and you are sitting in the audience.

 Zoom zoom all the way out  and take fantastic close up pictures

if you are the party, then, zoom  to 24 mm (all the way in ) and take fantastic pictures.

if you want to do landscape photography, zoom to 24 and the wide angle feature will get the maximum coverage 

of a room or a hall 

if you want to take the picture of a hill or a mountain, zoom to 24 (all the way in) and do f11 on the camera with  one over six hundred and forty shutter speed and iso 100 to get the best picture of the hill/mountain and with maximum coverage

if you want to take picture of a person  (PORTRAIT) zoom out a lil bit to 50mm and invert the camera to ninety degrees to get the best pictures.

overall the versatility of this lens is amazing. and Sony has done a wonderful job with this lens
