On the 15th of February 1893, the first Interurban railroad between cities opened with "electrified service" between Portland and Oregon City, Oregon.
Forward thinking businessmen took full advantage of new technologies and the Oregon City Waterfall. Ordering DC generators and equipment to build a power plant, they then went about building a steam railroad quality roadbed, and ran both passenger and freight service from the very beginning. The industry grew rapidly with a second Interurban, the "Sandusky, Milan, and Norwalk", opening later that same year with a 20 mile line in Ohio.
This documentary is the story of the first Interurban, from the beginning until the very end of service as told through the lense of Al Haij and family.
Al's consistency in capturing railroading throughout the N.W. with his color 8mm movie and still cameras, has left us with a remarkable collection of images and history that might otherwise been lost to time.
The Haij family hopes, through this DVD, you enjoy sharing Al's love of electric Interurbans, Trolleys, and all things railroading.

IMPORTANT! The best way to order multiple items is to add them to your cart and then check out ONCE. Instead of ordering an item, checking out then ordering again. Multiple orders placed to the same address will ship COMBINED in one shipment.
ALL US orders ship via USPS 1st Class Mail or USPS Priority Mail*. Normally this takes from 1-3 business days. *Ok, there is one item we sell (a book) that ships via Media Mail as it weighs more than the first class maximum.
Orders received before 3PM PST (and often later) will ship out the same day.
International orders ship via USPS First Class Mail. Delivery times are difficult to estimate and are at the mercy of customs in the country being shipped to. We've had pretty good and fast delivery service to most countries.
Please note that international orders are subject to customs taxes in your country. These are the responsibility of the buyer.
Returns are accepted for 14 days. Item must be in sellable condition (no scratches, fingerprints, etc).
If you receive a defect, or the wrong item, or for any other reason, CONTACT US FIRST! We may be able to resolve the issue without your having to return anything.
