1817 Coronet Head Large Cent. Accurately attributed to the Newcomb variety index as an N-16 piece, featuring the highly distinct 15 Stars obverse design layout. This raw item features a stable, uncleaned peanut-brown patina with uniform circulation wear across non-porous fields. The obverse portrait displays an old, crisp merchant counterstamp reading "RF" enclosed within a distinct rectangular cartouche border, providing an excellent historical crossover piece for exonumia and early copper specialists. The reverse displays complete outer legends, an intact wreath structure, and a bold perimeter denticle run. Review the high-resolution images to evaluate the surfaces and determine your own final assessment. Minted back when James Monroe was president, this piece of history would make a nice addition to any early copper collection.
