The books that are offered are two
paperbacks by Stephen Bly, Hidden Treasure (published 2000) and Last
Swan In Sacramento (published 1999).
These books had been my books, and I acquired them from my
church’s library when shelf space was required for additional books. The books remain in like new condition being
fully intact with tight spines and no marks on any of the pages. Both books have beautiful laminated covers
applied to them. Please observe all photos.
For Hidden Treasure (250 pages) from the back cover the
publisher writes:
“THE
SKINNERS OF GOLDFIELD
BOOK TWO
GOLD MAY ABOUND IN THE TOWN’S MINE SHAFTS AND SANDY SOIL, BUT
THAT’S NOT WHERE GOLDFIELD’S TRUE TREASURE LIES.
The
Skinners do not want to be in Goldfield, Nevada. The weather is harsh. Sin is glorified. Greed is rampant. Spiritual sensitivity is scarce. And kids grow up with sand in their eyes and
gold fever in their bones. The Lord, however,
leads in mysterious ways, and it is clear that the Skinners can’t leave just
yet.
Not
with O.T. having to find his friend who is out treasure-hunting in the middle
of the desert.
Not
with Dola Mae needing to search for a missing child and still feed dinner to 75
hungry miners.
And
especially not with the Rokkers clinging to them and their faith in the midst
of still another struggle.
And
yet as the Skinners grapple with each situation, as well as their own
life-and-death circumstances, they are reminded of what riches they have in
their faith even as they discover unexpected treasure in their Goldfield friends.
STEPHEN
BLY has written more than 60 books for adults and kids, including eight series
for Crossway. This is the second book in
his new series, The Skinners of Goldfield.”
For
Last Swan In Sacramento (221 pages) from the back cover the publisher writes:
O L D C A L I F O R N I A
In a land and a time where reputations were gained…and lost…in a
matter of weeks, Martina Swan is about to discover whether she has the faith
and courage to survive.
They
were supposed to be living happily ever after.
Instead Martina Swan, daughter of the legendary Wilson and Alena Merced,
is grappling to find peace in a marriage that is falling apart. Her husband is in Virginia City, Nevada,
trying his luck at mining the Comstock Lode.
A promise to come a wealthy man ‘in three weeks’ was given over a year
ago. Meanwhile, Martina has been
struggling to keep the family store solvent in Sacramento. And the pressures are mounting as she seeks
to raise their child, the bank obviously tries to close the store, and armed
outlaws decide she has possession of their stolen treasure.
Always
living in the shadow of her mother’s beauty and her father’s valor, Martina finds
that her one true source of joy is her daughter. Martina determines to go and bring her man
home. It is a shocking and toughening
experience. In fact, she’s about to
fight the most difficult battle of her life—learning to forgive and love
again. It will prove to be a deep lesson
about herself, the nature of love, and God’s unwavering concern for entire
family.
