Universal Window Crank & Door Latch Shaft Extensions for Ford Vehicles
Upgrade your Ford ride with our Universal Window Crank and Door Latch Shaft Extensions! These extensions are designed to fit most Ford models, including iconic 1960s - 1970s Mustangs and 1940 and later Ford Trucks. They work perfectly with window regulators that have a 7/16" - 1/2" diameter, 16 - splined shaft, and when the handle is attached to the regulator using a set screw.
Easy Installation Steps
Step 1: Remove Old Components
First, take off the stock door handle(s). You may also need to remove the armrest and door panel to access the shaft properly. Don't worry—this process is straightforward and gets you ready for the upgrade.
Step 2: Install the Extension
Slide the crank shaft extension over the existing shaft. Then, use a 1/8" hex head Allen wrench to tighten the set screw(s). Make sure to torque it to 72 - 75 inch - pounds. For extra security and to prevent the set screw from coming loose, we highly recommend using Blue Lock - Tite. Our set screws are made of durable steel with a cone point, which provides excellent holding power. When tightened correctly, the pointed end of the set screw will dig into the steel shaft, keeping it secure for the long haul.
Step 3: Reassemble the Door
Put the door panel back in place. Then, attach the door handle to the shaft extension. Don't forget to tighten the set screw on the backside of the handle. This step ensures the handle stays firmly in place and doesn't slide off the shaft while you're using it.
Customize the Extension Length
Our product extends your door handle shaft by 5/8" (with a tolerance of + 1/16"). But if you need an additional 1/8" to 1/4" of length, just don't push the extension all the way onto the original shaft during installation. Leave some space, and you'll get the extra length you need. On the flip side, if you want a shorter extension, you can carefully grind down the existing shaft. Just make sure the set screw can still grip the shaft properly before installing the extension.
