Another item from Country Artifacts, Great Northern Liquidation, Springfield, Vermont.
  • This is an incredible lot of needlepoint patterns from a very old multi-generational estate.  I think they are from the late 19th to early 20th Century, based on the estate and the material.  No dates were found, so that is my best guess.
  • Two examples of instructions for how to use these are pictured.  One uses cold water, and the other uses an iron.  Many may not be transfer types, but are drawn patterns on paper.  Many are on tracing type paper.
  • I counted 124 individual sheets of paper with patterns on them in this lot.  They appear to be a mixture of commercial and possibly hand drawn examples (I think it's somewhat hard to tell the difference a lot of the time - everything is so well drawn).  There are other printed items in the lot, as shown in the pictures.
  • Most of the patterns are folded and thus have creases.  Some of the paper is more delicate than others, particularly if the paper is a pulp type.  The tracing paper types are often more durable.
  • Dimensions:  They range from very small bits to very large sheets.
