Bill Berg joined The Walt Disney Studios' animation story department in 1938. He was a writer for the Mickey Mouse Club and Disneyland television shows in the 1950s and a story artist on the short cartoons of the 1940s and 1950s. From the 1950s to the 1980s he wrote the "Scamp" newspaper daily strip and Sunday page. Scamp, the title character, is the mischievous son of Lady and Tramp from Walt Disney's CinemaScope animated feature "Lady and the Tramp" (1955), and the comic strip in which he starred was launched on October 31st of the year of the movie's release. In writing the strip, Mr. Berg drew a preliminary version of the feature for each day; it was then approved (and/or changed) by Disney's Publications Department administrators and turned over to Manuel Gonzales who drew the inked, published version. Done in pencil, ink and water color on 14" x 10" paper. After writing and drawing each strip, Mr. Berg turned these over to Manuel Gonzales who drew the final inked version for publication.
While visiting Manuel, at his home in 1979, he gave me Bill's drawings while explaining the comic strip process.  Good condition as shown. Date of publication is written by Mr. Berg in upper left corner. Ships USPS. VISIT MY EBAY STORE!
