DESCRIPTION

The first edition of this set of works. Complete in two volumes.

Uniformly bound in handsome full calf with gilt detail.

With a portrait frontispiece by Sir Joshua Reynolds.

A smart collection of works by the Irish satirist, playwright, poet and politician, Richard Brinsley Sheridan. Including popular works such as 'The Duenna' and 'The Rivals'. Sheridan is widely recognised for being the long-term owner of the London Theatre Royal.

With a bookplate for one 'D. D. Couche' to the front free endpaper and the previous owner's ink signature, dated 1880, to the front blanks.


CONDITION

Uniformly bound in full calf with gilt detail. Externally, very smart with some rubbing to the extremities and a few light marks to the boards. Some fading to the spines. Small mark to the bottom of the front paste-down in volume one. Bookplates to the front free endpapers of both volumes. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just the odd spot, slightly heavier towards the front and rear of the books. Previous owner's ink inscription to the front blank of both volumes. Slight age-toning to the edges.

Overall Condition: Very Good Indeed
