Coverage depends on temperature (Epoxy resins
before mixing act a little like honey - in summer, they are very runny while in
winter they are less runny) and so coverage can vary up from 250 grams per
square meter per coat.
Platinum UltraClear PRO is a 2 part (2 parts A
and 1 part B) Fast Curing Epoxy resin which when mixed with hardener is poured
into a mould and sets to a strong, hard finished product.
UltraClear PRO is resistant to most household
chemicals and can withstand surface temperatures around 80-85oC (resisting
marks from hot drinks etc).
The special fast curing character allows this
product demould within 24 hours.
The fast curing of UltraClear PRO is not
suitable for deep casting. We have about 56 other resin types to suit every
need. This product is for someone who is in a hurry. For even shorter cure
times, use Platinum 360+, UltraClear FG or SuperCoat Rapid (these are all food
grade). This product can be used for outdoor use.
Directions for use: Mix resin and hardener
EXACTLY in 2:1 ratio (Note: by weight not by volume) Use a plastic container
for mixing. DO NOT use metal, especially aluminium containers to mix. Mixtures
will turn milky colour in aluminium containers. The plastic container must be
extremely clean, free of dirt; water; oil; and other contamination. Tiny
contamination would deteriorate the quality of final result. Once the product
is poured into the mould, do not stir it or touch the surface to avoid defects.
Most foam will float to the surface and burst itself. The curing will take 12
to 36 hours.
Following factors affect the curing time:
1. Mixing quantity (the more you mix, the
fast it cures and vice versa).
2. Room Temperature (higher room
temperature will speed up the curing)
Mixing ratio: 2:1 (2 Parts A and 1 Part
B).
Application temperature: Wide temperature
range through summer to winter.
Pot life(working time): 1-2 hours (Data based
on 100ml mixing; 20 degree C room temperature).
Please pour this product into mould as soon as
possible, to avoid bubbling.
Time to reach non-tacky: 5-18 hrs Depending on
the room temperature (Data based on 100ml mixing).
Time to reach full cure: 24 hrs (Data based on
100ml mixing).
Viscosity: 600 cps for Part A (Brookfield 20
rpm). 150 cps for Part B (Brookfield 20 rpm).
Clarity: Pt-Co value < 10 for both Part A
and Part B
Compatibility: Binding to metal, inorganic
materials including cement; glass, stone, natural materials including wood;
particle board, most plastics except polyethylene, polypropylene, EPDM.
Shelf life: 12 months
Please Note: As this product is very pure epoxy, and
it acts in a similar manner, just like pure honey (epoxies act similar to honey
in that, during winter honey is extremely thick and yet in summer, that same
honey is very thin and runny). So it is with epoxies. And just like pure honey
which sometimes turns to sugar? Pure Epoxy resin can act in a similar way and
develop crystals (usually in Part A). This is not from faulty resin but common
thought is that it is from the cylic hot days and cold nights when
stored. An easy fix is to super heat the jugs up in scalding hot water
(over 65 deg C) for about 20 mins and this will restore the resin to perfectly
clear. The heating is also good to help remove air bubbles trapped in the epoxy
due to transportation. Any crystals that are forming, but as yet are not
visible will be dissolved. Without doing the above? One could experience air
bubbles in the mix when adding the hardener to the resin base. Such a simple
exercise to do with any brand of resin.
If I have to do a critical pour or application, as
a tip, I heat the jugs up the day before the pour and let them cool down for
the day of my pour. Additionally when mixing the two parts, I decant into
the mixing container by pouring down the side of the container. All this effort
is to try to limit any possible air bubbles that could ruin the finished
product. Even when mixing, I use a wide rule and do not even take it off the
bottom of the mixing container. Mixing is so important to get the best results
and can take 3 to 5 mins.
