DESCRIPTION

Comprising a historical summary, description of the Cutlers' Hall of Yesterday and Today, and a list of names including past Master Cutlers, beadles, law clerks, secretaries and freemen.

The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire is a trade guild of metalworkers based in Sheffield, and have been based at Cutler's Hall since 1638, with three different buildings having stood on the site, the current one having stood since 1832. They were incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1624.

Written by Lawrence du Garde Peach (1890-1974), an English author known for his historical works.

Complete with a scarce dust wrapper.

Illustrated with plates at the rear demonstrating the history of the company, including key figures, buildings and events.


CONDITION

In a quarter morocco binding with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart, with just a little general wear. Dust wrapper is sunned to the spine, with two inches of loss at the head of the spine, and with a few other marks to the cover. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
