An attractive map of Des Pays Bas, the Low Countries (Southern), by Jean (Robert) Janvier.

This is a lovely example of Janvier's work, hand-colored, of the Low Countries, Southern region. Plate No. 6 in the first edition of Jean Lattre's 1762 issue of the Atlas Moderne. Brabant, Guelde, Limbourg, Luxembourg, Haynant, Nanur, Flandre, Cambresis and Artois.

This Plate is from an early 1762 printing of the Atlas Moderne, published in Paris by Jean Lattre.

The map is hand-tinted, in excellent condition and suitable for framing. Please see attached photographs.

Jean (Robert) Janvier (1746-1776)

Workingin Paris in the second half of the eighteenth century, Jean Janvier (1746 –1776) produced a series of maps in the latter half of the century. While thereis some confusion about his Christian name, his maps usually were inscribed “LeSieur Janvier”. He is best known for his collaboration with engraver JeanLattre for an Atlas Moderne first released in 1762 and in several latereditions some by C. F. Delamarche and by Chez Remondini. He also producedseveral maps used in general atlases by William Fadan and P. Santini.
