What does low input mean?
Part of what we strive to achieve here at TFF looks towards an organic future! This means we are constantly looking for the best way to make our products without the harmful artificial fertilisers currently used. By using natural alternatives to stimulate growth we are helping to rebuild the soil, packing it full of nutrients which are then passed on to the hay & straw that we sell to you, and you feed to your beloved pets!
For your pond!
As well as excellent fodder and bedding for your pets, TFF Barley Straw can be the perfect natural solution to prevent algae growth in your pond. When it begins to decompose it releases chemicals into the pond that stunt the growth of Algae.
The best way to use them is to place them in the water in spring when the sun is out for longer but the temperature is still low. The decomposition can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months depending on how warm the water is.
Once the natural chemicals are released they should remain active for a few months.
We suggest placing your barley net on the surface of the water to allow it to aerate and begin the process of decomposition.
