Antique c.1890 William Adams England EPNS Silver Plate 902 Creamer Cream Pitcher
- Hollowware creamer by William Adams.
- The mark underneath: W (dividers hallmark) A, Warranted Silver Soldered, EPNS, England, 902
- It was well maintained over the years, its only flaws being the sound of a stray bit of solder moving around inside the base, and a bit of finish wear inside and slight tarnish starting here and there. Any polishing is undertaken at your own risk.
- Notes from silvercollection online (condensed): William Adams Inc was founded in 1865 by William Adams and was active in Birmingham and New York, much of its production exported to the United States. The McKinley Tariff Act of 1890 made mandatory the indication of the country of origin on products imported into the USA. From 1921, it was mandatory to mark "MADE IN..." as well (already commonly in practice since the early 1910s). William Adams items marked ENGLAND are from the 1890's. Items marked GREAT BRITAIN (an unusual mark) are possibly from the 1890's to the early 1900's. Items marked MADE IN ENGLAND, were made after 1920.
