• In the niche of river surfing I noticed that when its time to roll out and take a break, it is sometimes impossible to not accidentally clip a rock as you make your way out of the pocket. This is usually because of the usual 1m+ clearance in the water while beach surfing these impacts are rare, in river surfing sometimes clearance can be as small as 20cm!

FITMENT:

We've made this system which allows you to fit this fin saver kit without the use of any tools other than those supplied. Fitment can be as quick as 2 minutes and it neatly fits within most standard fin boxes.

You will need to be able to use your fingers to fit these fin-savers to existing fin-boxes using the provided metal tool kit. If you already have a tool kit from a previous purchase, you can buy one of our refill kits!

We provide a quick connect metal clip for the actual fin, you may also tie the tether to the fin hole to reduce the profile of the attachment. The clip makes for easy dis-assembly with an minimal disruption to water flow.

The materials used are 90%+ recyclable materials

Or bio-degradable (Made from edible products - But please don't try eat them!) like our patent pending tether wrap (Which dissolves in water once fitted).

We are still trying to find a solution for a strong natural material similar to hemp to replace the tether which is made from recyclable plastics. If you have a suggestion or you would like to work with us on environmentally friendly sports equipment, please message us!

We understand that surfing is seen as a clean sport, however as we transition to materials that are environmentally friendly: We are providing parts to reduce the environmental impact.

Just because it can't be seen (As they lay on the bottom of the water column) it should not mean we ignore.

TESTING:

In testing we see a deployed length of the tether being approximately 35cm (FCS), usually clearing the rear of the surf-board once deployed. (FUTURES: ~45cm)

The breaking strength of the tether is on average between: 25-40kg.

The breaking strength of the tether where tied to the fin is on average between: 18-30kg.

Re-use is possible if you can spend the time to coil up the tether within the fin-box cavity.

SAFETY:

Please be aware of the fin tether if deployed. In our testing we have not seen any dangers but in rare circumstances we have established where there is a small risk of entanglement. We've decided on the breaking strain of the tether to be strong enough to keep the fin from disappearing, but being weak enough to be able to be broken or ripped out of the fin/finbox in the case of entanglement. Surfing comes with inherent risks which you have to be aware of, in our risk assessment we did not see a noticeable increase in risks posed to the user.

After testing over 100+ deployments, we've only saved fins.
