Offered for sale is a lovely SAPPHIRE BLUE glass D handle PHILBE MUG.  It was made by Anchor Hocking for their FIRE KING line of heat resistant milk glass. It features a D shaped loop handle, smooth tapered sides, and a slightly flared base.  It has the delicate lace-like Philbe design in raised relief on the outer surface.  Like all Anchor Hocking glass, it was made in U.S.A.

This mug stands 3 1/2 inches (8.9cm) tall, and measures 3 inches (8.3cm) in diameter at the rim.  A U.S. quarter is shown in the second picture, to give an accurate impression of the size at a glance.  It is marked on the bottom as shown in pictures 5 and 6.  The bottom text appears in reverse on the outside, so that it can be read clearly when looking down through from the inside (picture 6).

Mug is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, scratches or repairs.  Long shear marks (inside and out) plus swirling surface texture (outer surface only) are evident on the glass surface, probably from uneven cooling of the glass when the mug was made.  The shear marks are visible in pictures 4 (center left) 5 (center) and 6 (center right).
