BEARING PULLER FOR BOTTOM BRACKETS (EXPANDING TYPE)
Safely and accurately removes bottom bracket bearings

bike bearing puller    bike bearing remover    bike bearing extractor    bike bearing extractor

This 'expanding' type tool is designed to extract the sealed cartridge bearings that are found in many bottom brackets, or, in the case of Shimano style moulded pressfit bottom brackets, to remove the whole bottom bracket.

We offer two designs of bottom bracket bearing puller:

  1. This 'expanding' type which is suitable for a wide range of bottom brackets with spindles of the selected size
  2. We also offer a 'wind-out' type puller which is avaliable in a wider range of sizes and can remove the bearing from a press-fit bottom bracket without removing the whole bottom bracket, but requires a recess behind the bearing for the tool to gain purchase and a surface around the bearing to push against.

Please feel free to drop us a note if you're not sure which you need!

We are now shipping our V2 expanding puller.  The V2 tool includes several important improvements:

  • Grip has been greatly increased by including a ridge at the end of the tool to engage with the chamfer on the inside diameter of the bearing
  •
  • The force required to tighten the tool has been reduced by refining the tool profile

How to Use

This extractor tool is simple to use.

As well as the extractor you will need a pair of spanners, a hammer and a rod/drift/old bolt.

1. Insert the circular end of the tool into the centre of the bearing/bottom bracket bike bearing puller
2. Hold the body of the tool with a spanner or pliers and tighten the nut.  This will expand the tool, gripping the bearing bike bearing puller
3. With the frame/bottom bracket supported on a bench or block of wood, the bearing and tool can be tapped out together.  Simply insert a rod/drift/old bolt into the other side of the bearing and tap on the end of the tool bike bearing puller
Here's a demonstration clip of our tool on YouTube (it shows a hub but the process is the same):  bike bearing puller youtube demo

Notes on Compatibility

This 'expanding type' tool is compatible with most bottom brackets with axles of the listed size.  It can be used with threaded bottom brackets or pressfit bottom brackets, but in the case of pressfit bottom brackets it may remove the whole BB rather than just the bearing (the removal process can then be repeated to remove the bearing from the BB cup, if the cup can be supported suitably).

This tool is also suitable for use with Shimano style moulded resin BB where the whole BB is repalced rather than just the bearings.

We have another design of bottom braket bearing puller that works well with many bottom brackets with replacable bearings.  It is avaliable in 24, 25, 29 and 30mm sizes.  See our 'wind-out' type bottom bracket bearing puller for a description of that tool.

Please feel free to get in touch if you are unsure of which tool would be best for you.  If you find that your BB is incompatible with the tools that you have ordered then you can return the tool to us for a refund.

We dispatch orders on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  The cut off for dispatch is usually 8am that day.

UK orders are sent by Royal Mail RM24 (First Class).

International orders are welcomed and will be sent by DHL GlobalMail or Royal Mail International Standard (Airmail). International orders will pay only once for shipping.  Add two or more pullers, presses or kits to the basket to qualify.

Ebay collects tax on behalf of the EU, Norway, Australia, New Zealand and some US states, so your order should arrive in these countries with no further taxes to pay.
