Gravura/Linocut
on paper by Julio Espindola after the poem 'Evocacao Mariana' by
celebrated Brazilian poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade (1902-1987). This artwork
comes from a folio of 7 linocuts by various artists that illustrate the poems
of Carlos Drummond de Andrade from 1925
to 1951, in an edition of 500. The
artwork was published by the Federal University of Minas Gerais on the
occasion of the VII Winter Festival, in celebration of the award of the title
of Doctor Honoris Causa of the University to Carlos Drummond de Andrade. This
listing is for one of the artworks as detailed below, together with an accompanying
copy of the poem.
The
Linocut is in reasonable condition. There is minor toning, light handling and creases to two of the corners. Signed and dated in pencil. There is a copy of the poem printed on a separate sheet of the same
size.
Linocut
measures 30cm x 43cm. Both papers measure 46cm x 63cm.
