Endorsement from Steve Gordon - AXE Drummer:
"Hi Steve. Got the c.d. Friday and have just had a chance to listen to it you have done a fantastic job really crisp and my drums sound much more forward. On the Guerssen mix i could hardly hear them. The artwork is great too really imaginative thanks so much again will be in touch love Steve G"

From a buyer:
"Hi Steve,
I've just received it this morning thanks. The glossy artwork was a pleasant surprise, and the reason I say this is that it looks like a standard B&W photocopy cover on the Ebay image, but I appreciate that everything cant be shown in an image.
Thanks again Steve, and I hope you manage to sell a good few copies of such a rare item.
Best wishes.
Keith."

From a buyer:
"Hi Steve! I thoroughly enjoyed your Crystalline remaster - best version I've heard of the album."

From a buyer:
"Top Seller! Amazing-sounding CD, AND the band benefits from its sale too! GREAT!."

From a buyer:
"Perfect nice copy ‘well done and well happy’ great service thank you."

Axe was formed in Northampton during 1968, culminating from many bands that played there during the '60s.
Initial personnel included Mark Griffiths (guitar), Phil Dann (guitar), Roger Hilliard (bass), Mick Knight (Hammond Organ) and Steve Gordon (drums).
Mark went on to other things in 1969 (Matthews Southern Comfort - 'Woodstock') and later onto bass guitar with The Shadows.
He was replaced by Tony Barford.
That same year Mick & Roger left. They took on Mick Knobbs, bass and Graham Richards on flute & saxophone.
They also added Vivienne Jones on vocals to give them that distinctive sound.

The five tracks on this album were recorded at Beck Sound Studios in Wellingborough in 1970, engineered by Derek Tompkins.
There were originally 6 tracks recorded - but the idea was to produce a 10" acetate as a promotional tool.
Unfortunately the recordings were too long and so one track, 'Do You Remember' was left off - except part of it remains as the start and finish of 'Here From There'.
Sadly the rest of the track was deleted - and is lost forever.

The promotion was unsuccessful as well. It was sent to John Peel who, to his credit, actually listened to it and replied to the band.
Unfortunately it wasn't something he wanted to promote.
He felt Vivienne's vocals were 'too pure'!

Give it a listen and see what you think.
Here's a snippet of one and the whole another of the tracks on Steve Giles' YouTube Channel, although you'll have to Copy & Paste as eBay no loner allow hyperlinks:
