THE TRAMS OF THE NETHERLANDS, FEATURING THE HAGUE - DEN HAAG, ROTTERDAM, & AMSTERDAM INCLUDING HERITAGE OPERATION IN ALL 3 CITIES.

This DVD was filmed in 2016 and features scenes from the 3 Dutch cities with major tramway systems.

Part 1: The Hague, the Dutch seat of government, has a 12 route system with trams operating in 3 different liveries, the oldest trams are in red & cream HTM colours with many in all over advertising liveries, the white and blue Randstad Rail for the routes to Zoetermeer and the newest trams in the red & blue R-Net livery. Heritage tram operation on route 11 to Scheveningen is also included in this chapter.

Part 2: Rotterdam trams are operated by the RET and in 2016 there are 9 routes in operation. The tram fleet has been entirely renewed in the last few years and consists entirely of Alstom Citadis 1 & 2 low floor trams, Rotterdam is the first Dutch city to have an entirely low floor fleet. Also included in this chapter are heritage trams running on circular tour route 10 which runs in the summer months.

Part 3: Amsterdam trams are operated by the GVB and there are 14 routes in operation in 2016. 9 of the routes terminate at the Centraal Station on 2 large terminal loops in front of the station. Most routes are operated by single ended trams but there are 24 double ended trams for route 5 which has a stub end terminus at Amstelveen Binnenhof, this route also shares track with Metro route 51 which has some island platforms. There are 155 Siemens Combino low floor trams in service plus 45 8 axle trams built by La Brugeoise et Nivelle (BN) in the 1990's, these are high floor with low floor centre sections. Trams can be seen in this chapter at many locations in the city, plus there is video of heritage trams on the Amsterdam Tramway Museum line that runs from Haarlemmermeerstation to Bovenkerk in Amstelveen.
