GERALD R. FORD VICE PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURAL MEDAL

This 1973 GERALD R. FORD VICE PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURAL MEDAL is unique among presidential medals in that it marks the first inauguration of a Vice President of the United States under the procedures of the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution following the removal of Richard M. Nixon, a historic event that may never be repeated!

Created by New England sculptor Mico Kaufman who was commissioned by the Presidential Inaugural Committee and produced by the Medallic Art Company, this bronze medal features a relief of Gerald Ford on the front. The reverse has the seal of the Vice President complete with heraldic eagle, and olive branch in one claw, an arrow in the other, a ribbon above with inscription E Pluribus Unum within circle of 13 stars. The seal is superimposed over a view of the dome of the United States Capitol.

This is a rare GERALD R. FORD VICE PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURAL MEDAL complete with its original presentation box, descriptive pamphlet and metal display stand. The low serial number 551 is engraved on the rim side as well as MACO-NY-BRONZE. It solid bronze medal measures 2.75in/6.98cm diameter and 0.75in/19.05mm thick and is quite heavy for its size.
