Description: This 1978 edition of Lloyd's Calendar and Nautical Year Book contains several new features, while existing ones have been brought up to date. This year the historical feature concerns the activities as shipowners of Sivewright, Bacon & Co., Lloyd's Agents at Manchester. Subjects introduced in this volume include the United Nations Maritime Organizations, the I.A.L.A. Maritime Buoyage System, Marine Bird Watching, How Radar Works, Freight Forwarding, the Corporation of Trinity House, the Baltic Exchange and The Nautical Institute. International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, 1972, are now in force and the opportunity has been taken to reproduce the new Rules, replacing those of 1960.
Condition: This vintage book is in very good condition. The hardcover has minimal wear on the edges/corners (see picture), and the gilt letting is still bright. The inside pages are in very good condition with no writing, no highlighting, no creases, no tears, and no bent corners. No pages are loose or missing. The binding is tight. Note: the pages have tanned with aging.
