Currently the cathedral is a part of the Polotsk National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. The cathedral is a concert hall and the Museum of the History of Architecture of St. Sophia Cathedral. The exposition of the museum includes fragments of the masonry and frescoes of the 11th century as well as almost completely preserved ancient foundation.
The concert hall annually hosts the International Festival of Ancient and Contemporary Chamber Music (in April), and the International Organ Music Festival "Bells of Sophia" (in November). Every Sunday there are concerts of organ music.
