DESCRIPTION

Written by the eminent English Dancing Master Edward Scott, this text provides a comprehensive study of Dance throughout the ages and throughout the world, complete with details of musical notation.

With a colour plate frontispiece, 'from the picture by Watteau in the Dulwich Gallery' and demonstrative vignettes throughout the work.

Featuring an ink inscription by prior owner to the title page:

'Millie Wiven
1906'.


CONDITION

In a blue cloth binding. Externally very smart with some shelfwear only. Slight bumping to the extremities and head and tail of spine. Dampstaining to lower extremity of front board. Booksellers label to rear pastedown, 'The Times Book Club'. Offsetting of booksellers label to verso of rear free-endpaper. Internally generally firmly bound though tender in places. Pages bright and clean with just some slight age toning to the edges and the odd spot to the first and last few pages. Largely uncut pages. Ink inscription to title page offset to tissue guard of frontispiece. Crease to outer upper corner of frontispiece, not affecting the image. Offsetting to page 208.
