Alfred Delvau was a French journalist and writer. He produced several history works and two dictionaries, of which this is one. He made most of his living in lexicographical work and was on the team of Maurice Lachatre's 'Universal Dictionary'.
A fascinating and important work in the field of lexicography and the etymology of the French language.
CONDITION
Re-bound in a quarter red crushed morocco leather binding with marbled paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart, lightly rubbed in places. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with some scattered light foxing.
