"The Vietnam war was finally over, but the woes of the world continue.  The military needs challenged veterans to be unsuspecting participants in  a secret study.  Natural calamities kill thousands of innocent people.  Women's rights is an oxymoron in most parts of the world.  The age-old distrust between Japan and China worsens.  The homeless and poverty stricken go hungry while millions of tons of food are trashed each year.  Politicians put personal goals before the interests of their constituents.  Can anyone take on these issues and make the world a little better?

Philip Wiseman returned from the war to find he was the odd man out in his family-owned grocery store.  Hoping to find a better life in Hawai'i, he found himself barely hanging on as a delivery driver for Fun's Noodle Factory.  Then he met the love of his life, Ana, a back room worker in a Chinese laundry.  With some help from their friends, they occasionally bent the rules to make life a bit better for themselves, their family, and even a few million people they never knew."
