Feb 2026... sorry chaps... no wonder these have been selling, the new stock has over doubled in price... nothing I can do... seems to be par for the course these days... every order that comes in goes up... but this was a huge 120% increase, well over double.
Lens for SF 80 trafficator. This is a modern remake of the orange plastic lens and is of quite satisfactory quality. I would not sell it if it was poor quality (eg I refuse to sell modern metal top covers and carry NOS only). Old NOS amber lenses are quite rare and, indeed, are not necessarily "better" as they are very brittle. These modern ones are, in this respect, actually superior as they are more "pliable" and are able to better endure the vicissitudes of life as a trafficator... flapping up and slamming down all day... as well as being man-handled into place in the trafficator.
… I have a series of tips to fitting the new lens... and more about free-play. Due to people abusing my good nature, they are now sent out hard-copy with the lens/lenses. Concurrently with this hard-copy, I will send a video , and photos to your phone showing what free-play is and how to adjust it. I used to supply them free here, but I found out some people were using the advice, then buying elsewhere. That is now finished. Without the tips and free-play setting, you may have many issues.
Best fit is to buy your festoon (lamp) at 6mm x 36mm … no longer and no fatter… I sell them.... non 3 watt are no good, 8 x 36 is no good, 8 x 38 is no good. 6 x 38 is no good.. BEWARE 8 x 38 being flogged all the over the place… this introduces TWO bad-fit variables!!!! )
You cannot repair an sf34 or sf40 using this lens, it is specifically made for an SF80.
....april 2021. aust freight. sorry all post now full courier rate due to aust post cretins not honouring padded envelopes .
METAL TOP COVERS Unfortunately, I have no chrome top covers. I had quite a few NOS in 2014 and was selling some. They have now gone.
The problems with the modern top-covers are as follows...
They are "OK" but you will never get a good fit. The die is flawed... and some company is churning these out using a faulty die... I did try again and buy one just recently, but they are still the same as they were 5 years ago
You will notice two problems. (1) The modern metal top-cover is too narrow in width and will not fit neatly over the amber lens, especially if it is an old lens. (2) there is a gap along the lens-top in the other plane (the plane that runs along the orange-lens top) that is crescent shaped caused by (a) edges totally mismade and get shorter in the middle (b) the entire thing is bent slightly.
So you have problem 1, then problems 2a and 2b. (In addition, but only a minor problem, the chroming and steel is weaker.)
The modern metal top-cover sort of sits on top... and you can see a gap in the middle caused by 2a and/or 2b.
I do watch out for NOS covers but they are rare. Beware people pretending they are selling "original" metal top-covers and sending the modern one. This word "original" is specious, which is why they're using it.
They're not "useless", but don't expect a nice fit. (which is why i won't sell them)

To look for items in my shop, the easiest way is to save any one of MY 2700 items in your watchlist... Then, whenever you want to peruse my 2700 items... simply click on the hyperlink called “visit store” at the top right of this item. That will take you to a page with my 50 store categories... click the category, and that category will be displayed with photos on the right... thus a “window-shop”.
Plodding through the Ebay mire of the general search box... or the “see other items” hyperlink is simply the way to insanity.
If you’re using Ebay’s useless mobile app, I’m sorry... I have no idea how you will find them… this app is a real shocker/compromise in quality and half the stuff is missing. Go to your PC is my advice.
