This Lea Stein brooch is a fantastic, long diamond shape in green and white glimmers. The layering process sometimes created blurred lines as the plastics melted together. This results in a softer look. I think it's quite interesting. Unsigned but no doubt its Lea's. In excellent condition.

Léa Stein was a French artist and accessories maker, known for her compressed plastic buttons, brooches and bracelets. She is often hailed as "the most notable and innovative designer of plastic jewelry of the 20th century.” Born in 1936 Europe, it is suspected that Ms Stein spent much of her childhood in German concentration camps. By the mid 60s she had started working in plastics, and she and her husband created a method of layering very thin sheets of cellulose acetate.

Creating these unique plastic pieces was a time consuming process, up to 6 months for one piece, but produced remarkable final pieces. The layers were baked and cut into shapes after cooling. This method also allowed her to layer fabrics and other things into the plastics to create unique designs. (credit wikipedia).

Shipping

I recommend insurance on orders over $100. This is optional and available at an additional cost. If you’d like insurance, please contact me before completing payment so I can calculate the exact cost for your location.

I try to ship the next business day whenever possible, but please understand that I am the sole caregiver for my 96-year-old mother with dementia. She is my top priority, and all funds from sales go directly toward her care. I’ll keep you informed if there anre any delays.

I offer combined shipping, based on either flat rate or weight, and will always choose the most cost-effective option.

International Customers

All international orders are shipped via USPS First Class Mail unless otherwise requested. Insurance is strongly recommended for purchases over $100. If you would like insured shipping, please contact me before payment so I can quote the correct rate.

Important for Italian buyers: Due to ongoing issues with delivery, all shipments to Italy will require registered mail, regardless of item value. If you decline registered shipping, I cannot be held responsible for lost packages.

Buyers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, or import fees imposed by your country.
