Thelma and Aaron Sheche, Legendary Master Fetish Carvers, Artists Hand Carved Zuni Stone Fetishes. Aaron and Thelma were born and lived in Zuni during times of great change. When they were young, people around them remembered Zuni before modern times… before electricity and modern communications.  This carving is made from alabaster and it carries a turquoise offering on it's back.  It is about 3 1/4 inches long.

Aaron and Thelma are represented in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.

For the Zuni people of New Mexico, fetishes provide a way of accessing ancient wisdom and aligning with the natural forces.

Zuni fox fetish meaning:
Fox – To become one with your surroundings.  To move unnoticed.

FOX: The fox is quick and observant. He approaches life with amusement and cleverness and can make himself invisible when threatened. When in an uncomfortable situation, become fox-like. Blend in, make no quick moves and plan your escape! Fox fetishes will be similar to wolves but with elongated, fluffy tails. Often their facial features will be very delicate with pointed ears and nose.
