I love these little cardigans in garter stitch! The instructions cover three sizes; namely to fit either a 34, 38 or 42 cms. chest when complete, and were originally worked in Copley's D/K on No.9 (3¾ mm) and No.8 (4 mm) needles (see below), but it must be noted that the pattern mentions "these designs are suitable for knitters with some experience". Regards the yarn, you should be fine with using a modern D/K, but do work your tension square and change needles as needed to obtain the correct tension stipulated in the pattern.

MATERIALS:

D/K yarn- (see above regards yarn)

1 pair No.9 (3¾ mm) and No.8 (4 mm) needles

Stitch holders

3 [4:4] buttons for 'V' neck cardigan

5 [6:6] buttons for Button Up cardigan

MEASUREMENTS:

All round at underarm when complete- 34 [38] [42] cms.

Length from back neck (below neckband)- 16 [19] [22] cms.

Length of sleeve seam- 10 [12.5] [15] cms.

TENSION:

20 sts. and 40 rows to 4 in. or 10 cm measured over garter stitch on size No.8 (4mm) needles
