AN ORIGINAL PRESSING MADE BY ENGLISH COLUMBIA IN THE '50'S.

COMPILED ARE 7 TRACKS RECORDED BY GYPSIES AT THE FESTIVAL OF "LES SAINTES MARIES DE LA MER". A FESTIVAL USED TO BE HELD IN SOUTH OF FRANCE, WHERE ACCORDING TO THE LEGEND MARY THE MOTHER OF JAMES, MARY SALOME AND OTHERS LANDED IN THE YEAR 42 A.D. AFTER FLEEING PALESTINE. FROM THE GYPSIES LEGENDS IS SAID THAT TOGETHER WITH THESE WAS A GIRL SERVANT, SARA, FROM EGYPT. THE GYPSIES ARE CELEBRATING THIS GIRL AS A PATRON SAINT.


MUSICAL WITH EXCEPTION OF ONE TRACK, WHICH HAS SOME HUNGARIAN GYPSY INFLUENCES, MAINLY DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF VIOLIN; ALL OTHER TRACKS ARE MORE LIKELY TO BE ASSIMILATED TO THE SPANISH FLAMENCO.

                        COVER: Barely noticeable surface mark/ wear.

 

EXCELLENT: RECORD: Some signs of being played with extremely little if no loss of sound quality;

                          COVER: Slight wear.

 

VERY GOOD:  RECORD: Obviously been played with noticeable surface marks & the occasional light scratches but exhibits no major loss of sound quality.

                            COVER: Noticeable wear, with possible slight writing or stains.

 

GOOD: RECORD: Record has been played and has very noticeable surface marks & exhibits major loss of sound quality.

              COVER: Noticeable wear. Much writing/ stains.
