Sadly this pattern is not available as a 'Large Print' pattern.

This is a stunning 12 page 1940s pattern for toys (you can tell it's a wartime pattern as the little lobby boy holding the pattern number is wearing a hardhat instead of his usual uniform hat!). You can knit a hobby horse (called Primrose) head with instruction on how to attach to a pole, a mule named Pedro with panniers and a puppy called Bingo. All characters are knitted in Copley's Eighty-one wool on No.13 needles with crochet hook (see below for number). I cannot find out anything regards Copley's Eighty-one wool, but using the needle size and tension (8 stitches to 10 rows), I think that possibly 4-ply or D/K may suffice the patterns requirements, but with the D/K giving a slightly larger knitted item or you could drop a needle size. However, do work a tension square first. If you have worked in Copley's Eighty-one wool before, please contact me through ebay and tell me more about it please! As mentioned earlier, this is a unique pattern for some wonderful toys.

Stuffing 

1 broomstail or other suitable pole of the required length

MEASUREMENTS:

Width, across lower edge 7 1/2"

Length, from lower edge of fringe to top of ears, 12 1/2"

TENSION:

Work to produce 8 sts. and 10 rows to one square inch in smooth fabric (1 row K., 1 row P.).
