I have a wonderful unlined large white polka dot on black fabric valance handcrafted by me. These dots are the 3/4 inch size & the is a nice heavy weight cotton. It comes from a smoke & pet free environment. It is made with a 100% cotton fabric that does require machine wash cold delicate cycle, no bleach & tumble dry on low. It measures approximately 14 1/4 inches long & 41 to 42 inches wide. It fits on a standard 1 inch rod with a header or ruffle measuring almost 1½. I have sewn the casing twice for durability & I like my rod casing to fit tightly on the rod not loosely. That way my ruffles stay equally in place when I distribute my valance on the rod. I sew all my valances with transparent or invisible nylon thread. I have used this thread for 22 years it is very strong & durable & I use it because I don’t like seeing dark thread on light print or light threads on dark print. I take pride in my sewing & workmanship & I sew the old fashion way NO SERGING!!! I construct mine to last through many washings.
