Description

Osmo Wood Protector is an unique preservative wood wax primer. It is based on natural oils and waxes and produced entirely without biocides and therefore absolutely safe for indoor use. It is extremely water-repellent.

This unique product offers - without employing biocides - the ideal possibility to protect indoor (and also outdoor) wood when there is a danger of blue stain and mildew i.e. pine and spruce floors and panelling in rooms and areas with high humidity and high temperatures which particularly further the growth of these wood pests.

Osmo Wood Protector is thin bodied and can therefore also be applied by dipping.

If possible it should be applied on all sides of the wood and requires a finishing coat within 7-10 days.

Product based on natural oils and waxes

Osmo Wood Protector is based on natural vegetable oils and waxes. Natural oils and waxes penetrate deeply into the wood, keeping it elastic and healthy, and preventing it from getting dry and brittle.

Shrinking and swelling are reduced. The wood is allowed to breathe. Moisture can evaporate.

Surface preparation

Wood surface must be clean, dry (maxi-mum moisture content 20 %), and free from old paints

and wood stains. It must also be frost-free.

Compatibility

Osmo Wood Protector is compatible with all commonly used glues and putties (except products

containing silicone).

It can be used as a primer under Osmo Wood Wax Finishes Transparent and Opaque. All other

Osmo Wood Finishes are applicable except Osmo One Coat Only (the extremely high solids

content of this finish might result in a slightly uneven satin surface) and Osmo Fence And Garden

Stain. Do not use under water-based stains.

Corrosion

In areas of high humidity the use of galvanised, non-oxidising nails and fasteners is

recommended.

Method of application

By brushing or dipping.

Osmo Wood Protector is ready to use. Please do not thin. Stir well. Apply generously - if possible

on all sides of the wood. Leave approx. 24 hours to dry, ensuring good ventilation.

Then apply finishing coat.

Dipping time: approx. 2 minutes.

Drying time approx. 36 hours before application of finishing coat

Further treatment of the wood

Osmo Wood Protector is not a wood finish by itself.

It requires a finishing coat, preferably Osmo Wood Wax Finish, Polyx-Oil or Osmo Opaque Gloss

Wood Stain within approx. one week after application.

Cleaning of tools

With Osmo Brush Cleaner (benzolefree) or white spirit.

Drying time

approx. 24 hours when brushing

approx. 36 hours when dipping

Storage

Can be stored up to 5 years or more if can is full and tightly closed. Store in dry place. If

thickened by frost it will regain its consistency under normal temperatures within 24-36 hours.
