Many Companies, Railways, Charites and others bought stamps in sheets and then had them perforated, presumably hoping to deter theft by criminals or even by their own employees.  Often perforated along the lines of "A B & Co" but also used words or symbols.

Perfins can make a fascinating study.  Who were all the firms? Why did they need to do this?
