G. Smith & Sons Charing Cross GARGANTUAN Lovat/ Handmade, England/ MINT

G. Smith & Sons was a tobacconist located at 74 Charing Cross Road. London, England, from 1869, when they opened as the first shop on that famed street, until approximately 2011 when the store was closed. They sold a house pipe, such as this magnificent stamped "Charing Cross" along with "London Made", "Made in England", and a shape number.

Here’s an enormous Charing Cross Lovat shaped pipe in mint condition with super thick chamber walls and a nearly 1 (one) inch wide chamber, fully two (2) inches deep! Draft hole is centered. Chamber interior is very sound and very clean, appearing unsmoked, and there is little to no ghosting. There is an effortless, fully wide-open draw. The Vulcanite stem is a crisp jet-black bearing no marks. Pipe does not accept a filter. Pipe weighs 3. 46 ounces (98 grams). No fills, no handling marks and pipe passes a cleaner with ease.
