About the Artist & Provenance -- Shirley Peterson / Prestige Leather
Shirley Peterson was an accomplished American leather artist and miniature artisan best known for her handcrafted Prestige Leather miniatures. Her leathercraft designs and instructional work are preserved in the historic Tandy Leather archives, and her miniature work received recognition from the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (NAME).
Shirley created an extensive range of exceptionally detailed leather miniatures, particularly in 1:12 scale, including boots and shoes, moccasins, hats, saddles, luggage, handbags, belts, trunks, Western accessories, furniture, and many other specialty pieces. In 1998, NAME featured Shirley and Prestige Leather for her individually sculpted miniature leather dragons. In 2007, NAME selected her 1:12-scale leather wardrobe trunk as an official National Convention souvenir. That trunk was later chosen as the centerpiece of NAME's national "Legendary Trunk" miniature competition.
The Prestige Leather miniatures I am offering are especially unique because they came directly from Shirley Peterson's remaining inventory following her passing. These pieces are brand new and have never been previously owned or displayed. They remain in their individual original cases, just as Shirley placed them when they were part of her inventory.
These are not previously owned pieces being resold from a miniature collection. They are original, unused Prestige Leather inventory with direct provenance to Shirley Peterson herself, offering collectors an opportunity to acquire examples of her craftsmanship that have remained preserved since leaving her hands.
