Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Wine Red 3.74kg 1998 Electric Guitar

Description

Chet Atkins is a rare and exceptionally talented guitarist who, despite his country music background, incorporated and refined numerous musical genres.

In the early 1980s, Chet Atkins left Gretsch, where he had been endorsed for many years, and formed a partnership with Gibson, resulting in the creation of this historic model. The "Country Gentleman" is a semi-acoustic guitar that embodies Gibson's commitment to both feedback prevention and rich acoustic resonance, reflecting Atkins' dedication to both.

It features a 17-inch wide laminated maple body with a subtle flame pattern.

The center block uses lightweight balsa wood instead of maple, resulting in a warm, resonant tone.

It has a 3-piece maple neck with a 25 1/2-inch scale ebony fingerboard.

It features the familiar thumbnail inlays found on Gretsch guitars.

The pickups are genuine Gibson 492R and 490T. The 490 and 492 models feature pickups with lower output, resulting in a clear tone.

It appears that a different pickup was installed at one point.

A Bigsby B3 tremolo is installed.

The controls consist of a master volume located on the treble horn, individual pickup volumes, and a master tone control. This design also inherits the Gretsch operability.

The tuning pegs are crank tuners, a feature unique to this era. These are custom-made Schaller tuners with an internal handle. Simply put, they allow for high-speed tuning, similar to a string winder. While rarely seen now, they were used on some of the higher-end models of the time.

The Gibson Country Gentleman was manufactured from Chet Atkins' death until 2005. However, production numbers were not very high, making it a rare model that is rarely seen on the used market.
