The Pentax Rear Converter A 2x-L is a genuine Pentax teleconverter designed for use with the Pentax A-series super-telephoto lenses on the K mount system. It doubles the effective focal length of compatible lenses, extending reach for wildlife, sports, and aviation photography.
2x Focal Length Multiplication
The 2x magnification doubles the effective focal length of the attached lens — a 300mm f/4 becomes a 600mm f/8, for example. This provides significant additional reach without the bulk and cost of a dedicated super-telephoto lens.
A-Series Super-Telephoto Compatibility
The "L" suffix designates this converter as specifically designed for use with Pentax's A* super-telephoto lenses, including the 300mm f/4, 400mm f/5.6, 500mm f/4.5, and 600mm f/5.6. Full automatic aperture coupling is maintained with compatible lenses.
Aperture Reduction
The 2x converter reduces the effective maximum aperture by 2 stops. A lens with f/4 becomes f/8, and f/5.6 becomes f/11. Exposure compensation is handled automatically on compatible Pentax K-mount bodies.
K Mount Compatibility
Compatible with the full range of Pentax K-mount bodies supporting the A-series lens communication protocol, from film-era SLRs through to modern digital bodies supporting the K mount.
