I prefer to think of my ceramic pieces as my “play” rather than my “work.”
I use mid-range porcelain, throwing on the wheel, handbuilding, and cutting and altering forms to provide some mystery as to how they were created. I explore curves and ornate elements, seeking delicate elegance and graceful proportions that call forth a sense of whimsy. I enjoy the challenge of exploring how far I can exaggerate a form before it fails. Failure is part of the game and, therefore, part of the play.
My pieces represent a reprieve from the serious issues of our time and transport us to a moment of beauty, cheerfulness, and joy. I believe the objects we use and adorn our homes with should make us smile as we live with them. Only own what you love. Be appreciative. This moment is the moment you have!
