Up for sale is a stunning vintage Chinese hand-carved figural chess set with its original folding display case/board. This exceptional set captures traditional Eastern artistry, ditching standard European styles for a wonderfully detailed Chinese imperial court configuration.

The playing pieces are entirely hand-carved wood, showcasing fantastic structural depth and detail. One side is finished in a warm, natural light-wood tone, while the opposing side is finished in a deep cinnabar red/purple hue. Notable figural designs include the Emperor and Empress, distinct court scholars, kneeling warrior pawns, pagoda rooks, and imperial dragon knights.

DIMENSIONS & MATERIAL:

- Tallest Pieces (King/Emperor): Stand up to approximately 5" tall.

- Board Style: Hardwood folding box with heavy relief-carved imperial dragons along the outer borders and sturdy brass accent hardware.

INTERNAL STORAGE & EXTERIOR HANDLING:

- Case folds neatly in half into a compact carrying box.

- Features a sturdy, dual-brass metal swing handle securely anchored to the center seam hinges for easy transport.

- The exterior case design features beautiful hand-carved floral fan patterns framing the brass handle mechanics on both sides.

- The interior features a built-in storage compartment lined with a vibrant, clean red velvet plush material.

CONDITION DETAILS:

- Pieces: Overall excellent vintage condition. All 32 pieces are structurally intact with exceptional carved details still crisp. No major breaks or missing appendages.

- Internal Storage: Extremely clean, vibrant red lining with functional elastic straps that hold the pieces.

- Chess Board/Case Exterior: The deep relief dragon borders are in great shape. The top wooden playing grids are smooth and clean.
