This is a vintage authentic Sacum Tenent tapestry carpetbag purchased in Bergdorf Goodman NYC around 1989. Made in England. This is a bespoke house of exceptional luggage.
It is a huge weekender luggage piece. Made from durable beefy heavyweight cotton material, it features multiple inside deep pockets for organization. The added convenience of being washable by spot cleaning is a plus.
This multicolor tapestry design showcases an elegant dog on both sides of the bag. It roughly measures 18” x 18” x 12”. But it can be stuffed to expand way larger than that! Inside the fabric appears to be a very heavyweight thick 30 momme gauge silk and is spotless. It’s in immaculate condition
I have taken photos of the 4 bottom corners so you can see the tiniest bit of wear. Of course the photos are blown up but in person what u see in my photos is not even noticeable. I would consider this bag in excellent preowned condition.
The very top of the bag where the zipper is has 2 stiff bars and both have a split in it. (This is a split inside the fabric. The fabric is not split) Not only isn’t it noticeable but does not affect the wear in the least. Lady two photos show the split.
This was mine and used maybe 3 dz times. It’s a real beauty. Colors are true to my photos. Two types of design were used. The front and back of the dog and the coordinating floral for the top sides and bottom. There are also 6 sturdy (each the sz of a nickel) metal feet.
Zipper works like a charm. It’s a work of art for the collector.
