Rare Antique Edwardian "Shem-el-Nessim" Cachou Shop Display Jar – c.1906 - please see my other bottle of the similar design in my other listing.
Capture a beautiful piece of Edwardian retail history with this exceptionally rare, authentic shop counter display jar. Manufactured for the famous Liverpool confectioners Barker & Dobson, this stunning piece was created in collaboration with the legendary London perfume house J. Grossmith & Son to hold their celebrated "Shem-el-Nessim" (The Scent of Araby) scented breath lozenges.
Dating precisely from the height of the Pre-War Orientalism craze (circa 1906–1914), this jar is an absolute dream for collectors of chemist advertising, tobacciana, apothecary items, and Belle Époque design.

The Details:

• Exquisite Art Nouveau Typography & Imagery: The original front paper label remains remarkably intact, featuring its iconic, vivid Edwardian illustration of a lounging woman under the banner "The Scent of Araby". The label proudly displays the gold-accented branding for both the fragrance and Barker & Dobson Ltd., Liverpool.
• Striking Silhouette: Crafted from heavy, high-quality clear glass, the jar boasts a highly stylized, elegant contoured body that catches the light beautifully.
• Original Ground-Glass Stopper: Comes complete with its magnificent, heavy, multi-tiered decorative glass topper. The ground-glass neck was specifically designed to create a tight seal to preserve the rich, volatile perfume oils of the cachous inside.
• Dimensions: [Insert Height with stopper] tall x [Insert Width at widest point] wide.
