Garcia Mitchell 300 early 4th version spinning reel made in France featuring a planetary gear system, collapsible spring loaded winding handle, front drag adjuster, aluminum spool, automatic bail release and an all metal gear case making it very strong and durable, this is the Garcia Mitchell 300 very early 4th version, (mfg sometime in 1953 or 1954), no engraved Garcia or Model designation, serial number stamped on the case is C08459 and the absence of the reinforcement at the grease port on the back of the gear case, also note the nylon transfer gear and metal end of the spool shaft. Very smooth on cast and retrieve, the bail snaps back after each cast and the drag function is very smooth with selective click anti-reverse. This is a high quality freshwater workhorse a very solid reel that will not let you down. Exceptional mechanical condition, the gears show very little wear and everything works better than intended as only precision greases and oils designed specifically to lubricate and protect within the marine environment are used when I service a reel, exceptionally nice exterior condition, both paint and chrome parts are exceptional, this reel retains 99% original finish and luster, very minor paint scuff on the bottom of the gear cover from light use. Spool some new line and go fishing or put it in your collection it displays very well.
