A highly atmospheric antique late Victorian or Edwardian silver-plated on copper chamberstick candle holder. This classic piece features a round, deep drip pan base defined by a beautifully pierced vertical gallery wall with a reeded upper rim. A central classic sconce nozzle rises from the tray, balanced by a sturdy scrolling finger loop handle topped with an oval, tiered reeded thumbpiece. This traditional piece brings a wonderful touch of period English table elegance and historic country-cottage charm to any cozy mantelpiece, bedside table, or festive holiday display.
The underside is unlacquered and unmarked, displaying a clean finish typical of classic late 19th-century workshop hollowware.
Condition Report:
This chamberstick is in good antique structural condition and retains a lovely bright polish to its remaining silver sections. Reflecting decades of genuine domestic use and historical cleaning, the piece displays an exquisite, highly sought-after "shabby chic" patina with significant copper show-through (bleed-through). This warm copper under-layer is beautifully visible along the raised reeded ridges of the thumbpiece, the top nozzle rim, and the pierced gallery bars, adding immense character. Please note the original conical snuffer is missing from the side bracket. There are no structural splits or dents to the metalwork.
