Vintage Japanese Miniature Porcelain Circus Tea Set 15 Pc Clown Elephant CHIP
Up for sale is an incredibly sweet, authentic mid-century children's miniature porcelain tea set featuring a hand-painted whimsical circus theme. The underside of the pieces displays the classic stamped "JAPAN" export mark.
True to its post-war era of production, this set features charmingly thin, lightweight "eggshell" style porcelain with a beautiful, distinct bluish-white glaze hue. The delicate pieces are hand-painted with a whimsical parade of circus clowns, performing blue elephants, leaping tigers, giraffes, and ponies. It makes a perfect addition to an antique doll display, novelty toy collection, or retro nursery shelf!
The 15-Piece Set Includes:
- 4 Teacups: 3" Wide x 1 1/2" Tall (Note: One cup has a small chip on the inside rim).
- 6 Saucers: 4 7/16" Diameter
- 2 Pastry / Cake Plates: 5" Diameter
- 1 Creamer Pitcher
- 1 Sugar Bowl Container: Approximately 3" Tall x 3 1/2" Wide

Condition:
Good vintage condition overall. The thin porcelain is exceptionally fragile but has been wonderfully preserved over the decades. Three cups are completely free of damage; one cup has a chip on the inside rim (clearly documented in the photos). There are no other chips or cracks on the remaining cups, saucers, plates, creamer, or sugar bowl setup.
Please note that there is minor gold leaf loss along the outer edges of the saucers and cups from age and handling, as well as typical, minor manufacturing iron spots in the glaze. Please review all photos closely for exact condition.
