1927 Pontiac 6-27 Series Coupe
For consignment, a 1927 Pontiac 6-27 series coupe showing 781 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption. 1927 was just the second year of production for the new manufacturer and if our inventory over the years is any indication of rarity, early Pontiacs are indeed uncommon.
Exterior
This street rodded 1927 wears can't miss School Bus Yellow paint, in two stage application and its long wheelbase is hunkered down over 15-inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels. Both stance and color would have been UFO worthy in 1927, but today, it's a fine treatment of a classic body style that puts a boxy cabin over rounded body panels and in this case, fenderless sides. This creates the epic fat tired rear view with modest tail lights, a tubular bumper, and a matching yellow gas tank. A large cowl section leads to the engine compartment followed by a trimmed yellow radiator shell with a Pontiac arrowhead, and chrome headlight buckets. Imperfections are few and include a scuff and a couple of chips.
Interior
Black and yellow make up the interior palette beginning with smartly designed door panels with pleated vinyl inserts sandwiched by black with yellow stitching and gray carpet below and smooth metal trim and both doors present nicely. Inside, tall cloth bucket seats bring in some modern accommodations, and front an attractive dashboard that combines exterior yellow with turned aluminum trim and faceplates and white faced VDO gauges. There's a tach on the tilt column and a 3 spoke sport steering wheel for the driver. Pleated yellow panels dress the kick panels, yellow rimmed carpet covers the floor, and a black ball tops a yellow shifter that snakes up from the floor. Even the sidewalls take on the black and yellow motif while the headliner is charcoal lined with stainless bands. The trunk is fully finished in wood and gray cloth panels and houses the battery.
Drivetrain
A spotless engine rides up front and it is a crate motor according to our consignor; a 350ci V8 that he also states puts out 350 horsepower. It's got a 4-barrel carburetor and headers and is mated to a T5 5-speed manual transmission sending power to the Ford Explorer 8.8" rear. Finned Edelbrock valve covers and chromed components make this powerplant show worthy.
Undercarriage
Lots of polish under here as well with dual exhaust running through stainless MagnaFlow mufflers, then heat wrapped and sent out through polished pipes. Disc brakes are at all four wheels and suspension includes a 4 bar and a transverse leaf spring in front and a 4 bar with polished coil overs in back.
Drive-Ability
It's not just vibrant, it's fast, fun and comfortable, and it's exhaust note is one for the ages! It handles well, tracks straight and with a cabin more akin to the pick up truck, visibility is limitless. Plus, all functions work as they're intended. Not only is this a nice build, but it's a fairly uncommon make and model that is a nice diversion from the common Ford and Chevrolet of the era.
