Offered here is a rare discontinued Pilot Maki-e fountain pen featuring the Nadeshiko (Japanese Pink / Dianthus) motif, manufactured around 1979. This pen predates Pilot's switch to 14K nibs in the 1980s and retains its original 18K gold nib — a significant distinction for collectors and enthusiasts. Maki-e is a traditional Japanese lacquer art technique in which fine gold and silver powders are applied to a lacquered surface to create intricate decorative designs. This particular model was a long-running bestseller before being discontinued, making it increasingly sought after on the secondary market. Nib size is Fine (F), offering a precise, smooth writing experience typical of Japanese fine-nib pens. Condition: Pre-owned.
