Using Devonian Mudstone as the hill and the tree, they are cut to shape and the tree is split like slate. The roughness of the tree is the natural effect after splitting. The Hill stone has a smooth base and is free standing. 

The tree trunk is shaped to gently fit into the small holes in the hill. 

Nothing is permanently fixed so I can package safely for posting. 

Once at its forever home a drop of superglue will fix the tree permanently.
